Circe's Magical Potion

While you and the kids are making this magical potion craft, you may enjoy reading this magical myth to go along with it.

Long ago when gods and goddesses ruled the earth, there was a young goddess of magic named Circe. She was known for her vast knowledge of potions and herbs, and through the use of magical potions and her wand, she’d transform her enemies into animals. Because of her temper, she was banished to an island where she was to remain in solitude. One day, groups of ships led by king and explorer, Odysseus, landed on her island. Seeing a chance to practice her magic again, Circe invited Odysseus’s men to a feast. Odysseus decided to stay behind to watch the ships while his men attended the feast, gorging on delicacies and treats beyond their imaginations. However, Circe had poisoned the dishes, and all of Odysseus’s men turned into pigs for their gluttonous actions. Only one managed to escape and tell Odysseus. Odysseus was given a holy herb earlier in his travels that he used to protect himself from Circe’s spells. However, Odysseus also managed to befriend Circe and save his companions.

I could imagine my daughter's face when she sees these magic potions.

This is definitely a great Halloween themed science experiment for kids. Even if it wasn't edible I couldn't imagine a child that wouldn't go crazy for the smoke coming out, but the fact that it is edible makes it that much more special. They will feel as if they truly did brew their own magic potion.

This is an amazing idea, I think if I made this for my nephews birthday party I would get some brownie points) I will be looking up dry ice all night and an alternative to kool aid, I'm not 100% sure they sell this in Ireland but I will be giving this a try one way or another! If anyone knows a kool aid alternative that would be great?

Ooh, with Halloween approaching this is going to be a great project to make!

What a great way to be the coolest mom in the neighborhood or the talk of the party by making the Edible magic potion. What a great way to teach the kids the effect dry ice has ans then to be able to eat the treat afterwards. I would put the dry ice in a separate container though so they will not eat any dry ice. This is so easy to make and a great idea for Halloween. So lets turn down the lights and serve up some magic potion. Anyone make this yet?

Wow, a craft you can eat?! My dreams have come true!
