Looking for awesome Halloween craft ideas? Look no further than the Jester Party Pumpkin. This playful pumpkin is sure to brighten up your stoop with his seasonal cheer. After all, everybody loves creative fall decorations. Plus, pumpkin painting is an easy kids Halloween activity that's just as fun as carving, but without all the mess. Kids will love painting their very own mischievous jester (although younger kids may need some parental help). Before Autumn ends, make sure to grab your paintbrushes and create a cheerful painted pumpkin!

Other supplies

  • water container
  • palette or plastic plate
  • paper towels
  • scissors
  • #0 liner brush
  • stylus
  • tracing & transfer paper
  • round sponge pouncer (Americana Dual Sided Pouncers - DABK19)
  • VersaTool or craft knife
  • quick-dry craft glue or low-temp glue gun and glue sticks
  • medium foam pumpkin (orange or white)
  • 6" foam ball
  • 7" x 18" Fun Foam sheet in lavender
  • foil chenille stems: red for hair and gold for attaching bells
  • four gold jingle bells

Instructions

NOTE: Let dry completely between painting steps.

  1. Trace and transfer face shapes on pumpkin.
     
  2. Use the 3/4" flat brush and Bright Yellow to paint the stars; mouth and nose, Lamp Black; and tongue and cheeks, Tuscan Red.
     
  3. (optional) Use 3/4" flat brush to alternately stripe scrap piece of foam pumpkin Lamp Black and Snow White. Use Versa-Tool or craft knife to cut hole in center to fit over the pumpkin stem.
     
  4. Use the liner brush and Lamp Black to outline face details and paint eyes inside stars.
     
  5. Slice off 1/4 of foam ball and paint Lavender. (Remainder can be saved for another project.)
     
  6. Use scissors to cut four V-shapes in fun foam for hat. Use pouncer and Lamp Black to stamp dots on the foam. Let dry. Press Lavender slice inside center of the fun foam hat and secure with glue.
     
  7. Assembly: Place striped pumpkin piece over the stem and secure with glue. Position the foam hat inside the pumpkin piece and secure with glue. Pierce the ends of V-shapes with a stylus. Thread a 4" pieces of gold chenille stem through holes and tie on jingle bells.
     
  8. Use Versa Tool or stylus to poke random holes for the hair. Halve red chenille stems and bend with fingers. (Refer to photo.) Dip one end of chenille into glue and press into the holes.
