If you love crafts that remind you of the sea, then this beach craft is just perfect for you to make this summer! Turn an empty toilet roll into a sweet little Fishy Toilet Roll Ocean Craft that you can hang in your room as a fun decoration. Ask mom or dad to add a piece of thread to the top of the fish, hang your little fish craft on a tree branch or in your bathroom, and see how he floats away. You can even make a whole aquarium full of these ocean crafts for kids, using different colors for each fish you make. What fun!

Materials List

  • Empty toilet paper roll
  • One cup cut from an empty egg carton tray
  • 15mm wide black googly eye
  • 15mm red pom-pom
  • Small black feather
  • Powder blue acrylic paint
  • Dark green felt-tip pen
  • Pilot silver marker pen
  • Quick-drying craft glue (such as Bostik Clear)
  • Neon green glitter glue
  • Curved sewing needle and thread
  • Paintbrush
  • Small scissors

Instructions

  1. The following preparation should be done by an adult: Use the small scissors to cut a 1.1" tail fin at one end of the toilet roll. Cut the egg cup smaller so that it would fit on top of the other end of the toilet roll. Cut the pom-pom in half as well.

  2. Paint the top side of the egg cup with the powder blue paint and allow to dry.

  3. Paint the inside and back part of the tail fin with the powder blue paint and allow to dry.

  4. Use the dark green felt-tip pen to color the outside of the toilet roll, as well as the front of the tail fin.

  5. Glue the egg cup to one side of the toilet roll and allow to dry thoroughly.

  6. Use the glitter glue to add detail to the tail fin.

  7. Use the silver pen to draw fish scales around the toilet roll.

  8. Glue the googly eye in place and glue one half of the red pom-pom on the egg cup to make a mouth.

  9. Glue the small feather in place to add the pectoral fin.

  10. This step should be done by an adult: Use the needle and thread to add a piece of thread to the top of the toilet roll to hang the fish from.
