Tips:

  • *When covering wood frames, first bake frame alone at 275 °F (130 °C) for 20 minutes to release moisture and sap. Allow to cool thoroughly before covering.

  • Do not use unbaked clay on unprotected furniture or finished surfaces.  Start with clean hands and work surface area. Good work surfaces include wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Knead clay until soft and smooth. For best results, clean your hands in between colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces together firmly.  Bake on oven-proof glass or metal surface at 275 °F (130 °C) for 15 minutes per 1/4” (6 mm) thickness.  For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME. Wash hands after use.  Baking should be completed by an adult.

Instructions:

  1. Using the Sculpey Acrylic Roller, roll out 4 rectangle sheets of Fuchsia Pearl clay about 9” H x 3- 1/2” W x 1/4” thick. Using the rigid blade from the Super Slicer, cut out 4 triangle shapes (use the picture below as a guide to create a template).

  2. Place the triangles onto the frame edges and press seams together. Press the overlapping clay around the sides of the frame, pressing everything down gently and cutting off any excess clay.

  3. Using the Sculpey Acrylic Roller, roll out a thin sheet of black clay. Using a craft knife, cut several strips in all different shapes and sizes.
