"Using this easy premade template with simple craft supplies and you can make your own Caterpillar Paper Puppet. This template is easily customizable, using different shapes, patterns, and colors. This craft can help with fine motor skills using tracing, cutting, and coloring while increasing creativity and imagination. The provided template makes tracing and cutting out the pieces easy work. When your child is finished creating their own caterpillar they can make up their own stories. "

Materials List

  • Colored Construction Papers
  • Popsicle sticks
  • Sharpie
  • Craft Glue
  • Pencil
  • Scissors

Instructions

  1. Pick out your construction paper. Using 2 - 3 different shades of the same color, use template to trace the head and body parts on two shades. Trace the spots on the third shade.

  2. Trace the legs and antennas on your selected craft paper. Use template to make the eyes.

  3. Using your craft glue attach the antennas to the head.

  4. Glue on the eyes near the top of your catepillar's head. Use the Sharpie to draw on the mouth.

  5. Take one of the body parts and glue it to the ehad so they are slightly overlapping.

  6. Attach the rest of the body parts one at a time.

  7. Glue on one spot on each body part.

  8. Use glue to attach the legs along the bottom side of your catepillar.

  9. Glue the popsicle stick to the back and you have your own catepillar paper puppets.

  10. Don't forget to cut out the fruit and attach popsicle sticks to them so your caterpillar has something to eat.
