I think it's cute, and with you get them cheap at the beginning of school year, you could use the new ones.

I like the effect but think it is rather wasteful of crayons and that adults would have to do all the real work as someone has already pointed out. Also, if you use cheap crayons, the coloured centre often slides out and the wood is often poor quality making cutting extremely difficult. What about adapting the idea and make 'fake' pencil beads either out of paper (paper roll beads are easy and fun for kids to make and can either be painted or made out of colored papers to begin with - adults might need to help to make holes side to side but if you make the bead by wrapping around a wool needle or cocktail stick you already have a hoe through the middle) or oven bake clay (FIMO or SCULPEY).

I think this is adorable. What a cute "Back to School" project. I want to try it soon.

Very creative and I like. I wonder if one could drill the holes and then cut?

Good idea. It's probably easier to manage the pencils while they're still longer.

I think this is a Great Idea!! I'm sure my Grand daughters will love this project! Very bright and colorful, cheery for spring. Thank You

this is a stupid idea as you need to cut the color pencils which is a tough tiring and waste of money adults are doing most of the work while children are just enjoying children should do most of the work only then will they feel satisfied
