"Make this bright and colorful caterpillar with recycled water bottle caps. Glue the caps together with a hot glue gun ahead of time. Use a 1 inch craft punch to cut out pieces of scrapbook paper. Using a glue stick, have your children glue pieces of scrapbook paper to the top of the caps. Glue googly eyes to the top of the first cap and a small piece of pipe cleaner folded in half to the back for antenna."

Materials List

  • Hot glue gun
  • Bottle caps (we used 5)
  • Colorful scrapbook or construction paper
  • 1 inch circle craft punch
  • Glue Stick
  • Small googly eyes
  • Black pipe cleaner

Instructions

  1. Use glue gun and glue bottle caps together

  2. Use circle craft punch to cut out pieces of paper

  3. Kids glue pieces of paper to tops of caps

  4. Glue googly eyes to top of the first cap

  5. Cut small piece of pipe cleaner, fold in half and glue onto the back of the first cap

Oh how cute is this caterpillar. it is made from water bottle caps so this is a great way to recycle them. This is a good project for pre-K or even kindergarten or just a bunch of friends. If you do not have a craft punch then just tracea circle using your cap as a pattern and cut with scissors and I am going to use felt. You can even add some glitter too or just paint the caps. So easy to do and very inexpensive.
