"It’s Groundhog Day! I don’t know about you, but for my kids, that means that they have just developed a new interest in weather patterns! My oldest son, Dexter, is seriously worried about what it means if the groundhog sees his shadow. Six more weeks of winter?? Or how about if he doesn’t see his shadow? Then “Spring is just around the corner,” right? It took me until I was in my 20s before I realized that they both mean the same thing. Just around the corner means… about six weeks away! Oh to be young and silly again! Anyway, this year, I thought we’d do something a bit special to commemorate it. It’s a great kid craft suitable for homeschooling or just as a supplemental ongoing lesson for kids who have an interest in the weather. These construction paper binoculars don’t have any special power, but it makes the lesson more fun! Just get your kids to look out the window (or step outside) each day, looking through their construction paper binoculars and see what the weather is doing that day. Then, using the free printable weather graph, have them document it each day for the next few weeks. See if they can spot any patterns!"
