Materials List

  • Empty toilet paper roll
  • Three rectangles of light green chiffon fabric, each sized 3.4" x 2"
  • Three rectangles of cerise pink chiffon fabric, each sized 3.4" x 2"
  • 2" wide strip of hot pink lace fabric, as well as a thinner strip cut from the hot pink lace fabric
  • Straight pink synthetic doll hair
  • Pair of 10mm wiggle eyes
  • Three pearl flat-sided rhinestone flowers
  • Small piece of pink sugar paper for the ears
  • Dark pink acrylic paint
  • Black Pentel ultra fine pen
  • Maroon felt-tip pen
  • Paintbrush
  • Standard scissors
  • Needle and pink thread
  • Quick-drying craft glue (such as Bostik Clear)

Instructions

  1. Paint the toilet paper roll with the dark pink paint and allow to dry thoroughly.

  2. Glue strands of pink hair all around the top edge of the painted toilet paper roll and allow to dry.

  3. Twist the 2" wide strip of hot pink lace fabric a few times to make a headband. Glue it around the toilet paper roll, gluing it where the hair strands were glued to the roll. Where the two ends of the headband meet, make a knot and cut off the remaining lace fabric. Add a drop of glue to the knot so that the knot won't come undone.

  4. Gather the hair at the top and tie the thinner strip of lace fabric around the hair. Make a knot and cut off the remaining lace fabric. Add a drop of glue to this knot, too, and cut the hair to make a neat ponytail.

  5. Make the troll's dress:
Working with a double strand thread, add a running stitch to one of the longer sides of a green rectangle. Next, use a running stitch to add a pink rectangle to the same double strand thread, followed by the second green, then pink, then green, and lastly a pink rectangle again.

Gather the frills of the dress together and drape the dress around the toilet paper roll before ending the running stitch with a secure knot. Add a few drops of glue around the middle of the toilet paper roll to prevent the dress from slipping down.

  6. Glue the pearl flat-sided rhinestone flowers to the headband.

  7. Glue the wiggle eyes in place and use the black pen to add a mouth, nostrils, and eyebrows.

  8. Use the maroon pen to add cheeks and a nose.

  9. Cut two small ears from the sugar paper. Add maroon color to the inside of each ear and glue the ears to the sides of the troll's head.
